FAQs

What kind of handyman jobs do you do?

As a professional handyman in Bath, Somerset with many years experience across the building trades, I can do pretty much all small handyman jobs – everything from putting up pictures and curtains, to fitting catflaps and assembling flatpacks, as well as small electrical and plumbing jobs. Please see the list of handyman tasks on this website – but it is not exhaustive – if you can’t see what you need on the list, please ask. I specialise in the small handyman jobs which make the most of my multi-disciplinary skills for your Bath home.

Do you guarantee your work?

All new work is guaranteed for 12 months. In the very unlikely event that you were not happy with the work, I would return and remedy the problem immediately. Customer satisfaction is absolutely key. As a local business I depend on reputation and word of mouth recommendations as an expert handyman in Bath.

How do you charge?

I charge in half-hour increments after the first hour, which is a transparent way to charge. It is £75 for the first hour and £35 per half-hour after that. I set my timer on arrival so you are clear how long I have been working. I work quickly and efficiently and believe I am considered an expert handyman. Parking fees and materials are charged in addition if applicable.

Do you do free estimates?

I can generally give you a rough idea over the phone of how long the job is likely to take, assuming there are no unexpected problems. I do not visit to give quotes as this is not good use of my time, but I doubt anyone could do quality handyman work in a shorter time and after having a chat on the phone, and perhaps seeing a photo I can generally give you a good idea of how long I think it will take.

Who will come to do the work?

I will undertake all the handyman work myself. I have worked in the building and related industries for over 35 years and have expertise across a wide range of trades. I know it is hard to find a really good handyman – the right mix of skills, experience and customer focus is rare!

What do you supply?

I will come in a van with the equipment I need on board. I will have most commonly used fixings with me, but for something specific I will advise you to buy it before I visit which will be cheaper for you.

Do you work weekends or evenings?

Sorry, no, work is completed during the working day, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.

Where do you work?

Most of my handyman business is focused around the city of Bath – the areas of central Bath, Bathwick, Claverton, Combe Down, Kingsmead, Lambridge, Lansdown, Lyncombe, Moorlands, Newbridge, Odd Down, Oldfield Park, Southdown, Twerton, Walcot, Westmoreland, Weston and Widcombe. I also cover the villages closest to Bath, such as Bathampton, Bathford, Monkton Combe, Southstoke, Englishcombe, Freshford, Wellow, Combe Hay, Priston, Limpley Stoke and Monkton Farleigh, Newton St Loe.

How do I pay?

You can pay by cheque, cash or bank transfer. If you pay by bank transfer I ask for payment to be made within 24 hours please.

Are you insured?

Yes I have full public liability and other relevant insurance. I also have a DBS certificate. Documents can be seen on request.

Do you give fixed appointment times?

I don’t give fixed times (apart from the first appointment of the day) as it is not possible to predict exactly how long the job or jobs before yours will take, but I try to be as accurate as I possibly can to give a two-hour timeframe of when I will be with you.

Do you take away packaging and boxes?

I do not take away rubbish as the council charge tradespeople more than private individuals and if you are not able to get rid of it yourself, then I can suggest a local company, Shift It in Bath
